'Calling Card'
Synopsis
Ninety minutes of footage as a result of a shared (camera work, ideas etc.) project was condensed to under six minutes reflecting the serendipitous journey on Remembrance Day 2003 in Soho on the theme of 'Calling Cards'. The video shows the Red light district as a canvas for a collaborative, evolving artwork, and the effects and control this ugliness and beauty has on the mindset. Red, the color bridges the gap between high and low culture, visually via phone boxes, a triadic interaction where rich meet poor, the Men At Work and the Working Girls, the provider, the provided, and the police. Filmed at low level reflecting the facelessness of the space and to focus on this professions' driving force, the amateuristic style portrays fantasy, innocence and the anxiety of the search.
No effects were added in post-production to increase the gritty, raw feel of the final piece.
